Solid State Chemistry & Polymorphism Expert (all genders)
Join us in shaping the future of innovative drug development by contributing your expertise in solid-state chemistry. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will support the development of crystalline active ingredients from late-stage research through to launch.
You will design and perform lab-scale experiments to explore the solid-state landscape and coordinate corresponding studies with external partners
By providing scientific input, you will support the development of robust crystallization processes for intermediates and APIs (small molecules)
You will lead and facilitate the transfer of crystallization processes into GMP environments, enabling material supply for development and clinical activities and ensuring seamless industrialization
Your expertise will also contribute to special formulation projects aimed at stabilizing amorphous phases
You will drive innovation in the field of solid-state chemistry, supporting Bayer’s intellectual property strategy
You will leverage modern automation and digitalization concepts to enhance scientific and operational efficiency
You will effectively support resource planning and ensure the preparation of high-quality technical documentation and dossiers
By ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. ICH, FDA, EMA, PMDA, SFDA), you will contribute to timely approvals for both development and market authorization
You hold a PhD in physical, inorganic, or organic chemistry or solid-state chemistry, or an equivalent scientific qualification; postdoctoral or industry experience is a plus
You are passionate about advancing our solid-state chemistry platform by combining scientific excellence with an innovative mindset
You possess deep scientific and technological knowledge in solid-state chemistry, including analytical method development and material characterization
You bring hands-on experience with relevant analytical techniques such as IR and Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (single crystal and powder), DVS, and thermoanalytical methods (e.g. DSC, TGA, hot-stage DSC)
Experience in a GMP-regulated environment and familiarity with related guidelines will be advantageous
You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills who inspires and motivates colleagues
You actively engage with the scientific community, universities, and industry partners to broaden perspectives and introduce new methodologies
You are fluent in English, both spoken and written; knowledge of German is an asset
