FundaMental Pharma is an emerging neuroscience company developing first-in-class small molecule inhibitors for treatment of a range of neurodegenerative diseases. Our scientists are developing an entirely new class of drugs that safely counteracts glutamate neurotoxicity, a common cause of neurodegeneration.

To support our discovery research including biomarker discovery and cellular disease models we are looking for a:

Laboratory Technician Neuroscience discovery Research (MALE/FEMALE/DIVERSE)

We are seeking highly motivated candidates to join our R&D team in Heidelberg, Germany. In this role you will be reporting to a Principal Scientist. You will be joining a highly dynamic team in a fledgling company supported by a strong syndicate of renowned investors.

Primary place of work: Heidelberg, Germany

Conditions of Employment: Proof of Eligibility to work in Germany (i.e., German / European citizenship)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory experiments with primary neuronal cells and biochemical samples under the guidance of senior scientists and researchers.
  • Prepare and maintain cell cultures, media, and other necessary reagents.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, spectrometers, and microscopes.
  • Perform biochemical assays such as co-immunoprecipitations, western immunoblotting, ELISA, and other biochemical analyses.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data; document results accurately in lab notebooks and databases.
  • Adhere to all safety and compliance guidelines; maintain a clean and organized laboratory space.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot experiments and techniques.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols.
  • Inventory management and ordering of laboratory supplies and equipment.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this position needs:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology / biochemistry or training as a chemical or biological laboratory technician, CTA (chemical technical assistant), BTA (biological technical assistant) or MTA (medical technical assistant).
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position in industry or academia.
  • Hands-on experience with standard cellular biology, biochemistry and molecular biology techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks independently.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with laboratory software and databases.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal in English; German would be a plus.
  • High degree of motivation and sense of urgency and flexibility.
