Research Assistant (m/f/d)
(salary group 13 TVöD [Collective agreement for the public service]; 29,25 hours per week)
for a limited period of 3 years.

The professorship examines processes of transnationalization, social diversity and discrimination in the school context and with regard to democracy education and participation from a comparative and racism-critical perspective. The professorship also focuses on the global interconnectedness of educational processes (e.g. the role of international organizations, policy transfer, global citizenship education) as well as educational inequality, school curriculum research and the representation of minorities in educational media.

Responsibilities

• Performing research tasks in the research area and in research projects of the professorship
• Participation in the acquisition of third-party funding and publications of the professorship
• Participation in the international networking of the professorship (e.g. through active participation in conferences and other transfer activities)
• Assistance in teaching to the extent of basically 2,0 trimester hours per week, including participation in the supervision of student seminar papers and theses
• Possibility of further academic qualification (e.g. doctorate or habilitation)
• Carrying out general administrative work as well as academic activities in academic self-administration

Qualification requirements

• A with “very good” completed university degree [Diplom (univ.) or Master] in the field of educational science or in other disciplines with clear links to comparative and/or intercultural educational research, e.g. (educational) sociology or political science

Furthermore desired

• Knowledge of foreign language in German with a proficiency level that corre-sponds at least to the language level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
• Language skills in English with a proficiency level that corresponds at least to the language level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
• Experience in the design and implementation of data collection and data interpretation (preferably quantitative methods)
• Experience with the publication of scientific texts
• Interest in the empirical investigation of research questions on the above-mentioned topics
• Ability to work independently, personal commitment, communication and cooperation skills
• Equality and diversity competence
• Attention to detail and good knowledge of word processing programs such as MS Word and reference management programs
• Strong interest in scientific work and the ability to teach

The employment is based on the TVöD in conjunction with the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz [German Act on Fixed-Term Scientific Contracts]. In principle, the activities correspond to pay group 13 (E13). Classification up to pay group 13 of the TVöD shall be made in accordance with § 12 of the TVöD with regard to the activities to be performed on a more than temporary basis and the fulfilment of the personal or collective agreement requirements (job characteristics).

Part-time employment is possible.
